Did you know that Queens, the site of the BOND Conference in April, 2016, is home to more than five museums, including the Queens Museum, The Louis Armstrong House Museum, MoMA’s PS 1, the Noguchi Museum and The Museum of the Moving Image? If you’re into sculpture, there are also the nearby Sculpture Center and Socrates Sculpture Park.

Museum of the Moving Image (MOMI)

Just minutes from the Paper Factory Hotel in Long Island City, Queens, you’ll find the famous Museum of the Moving Image. Museum of the Moving Image (MOMI) is the only museum in the country dedicated to the moving image in all its forms, exploring every aspect of the production, technology, art and promotion of moving images in an interactive and highly engaging way.

A ten minute subway ride will take you to MOMA PS1. Housed in a 19th century schoolhouse, MOMA PS1 contains an exhibition space for the most current art available in NYC, where, new and experimental art in all media is displayed throughout the unique space.

Nine minutes by train will take you to The Sculpture Center. Similarly to the Paper Factory Hotel, The Sculpture Center utilizes an old industrial space, in this case, a former trolley repair shop renovated in 2001. Originally founded in 1928, the Sculpture Center is a not-for-profit arts institution dedicated to experimental and innovative developments in contemporary sculpture. The Sculpture Center has a long and rich history of supporting developing sculptors as the former Clay Club, and currently commission new work and present exhibits by new and established artists.

The Noguchi Museum

If you’re up for a walk, just 28 minutes away, you’ll find The Noguchi Museum, devoted entirely to the works and philosophy of the sculptor and artist, Isamu Noguchi. In yet another transformed industrial space, the museum makes its home in a former printmaking plant and gas station. Noguchi’s famous work with stone is on display, along with designs, drawings and works in metal.

And what about the Paper Factory Hotel?  Did you see how cool it is?!  The BOND Team met there last month and was just blown away by all of the details that were incorporated into the building.  The hotel has so much character...a perfect place to relax and learn about how families can BOND.

What can you expect while at BOND?  LOTS of learning, for sure.  We have a fantastic line up of speakers ready to share their knowledge and converse with you.  We will have a large and diverse group of professionals who work daily with families in the perinatal and postnatal period for you to expand your network.

We have dedicated manufacturers who believe strongly in the importance of the family BOND and they will not only have their products elegantly displayed in the BOND BOUTIQUE for you to use and explore, but who will also be part of group discussions about how to best help families BOND.

You can expect to be inspired and motivated, and you can also expect to have a wonderful time.  We are taking everything into consideration, making sure that no detail is left unaddressed. BOND Conference will truly be as unique as NYC itself!
